Final Fantasy Versus XIII [Storm One-Shot]

This was actually a very fun drabble to do. And even though it's my shortest story by far, I think it's my most mature one.

Anyway, it's about the newest FF character, whom most everyone is calling "Storm". I liked that name, so I used it. Go figure.

Somnus actually means sleep in latin, so I thought it was a good title. Plus, that fact that the Versus trailer's music (by Miss Yoko Shimamura) is called somnus. If you ever get a chance, look it up. It's a great listen.

Somnus~

The pale moon hung its head blissfully over the cityscape. It was doomed to light up the night sky for eternity, for the sun of the world had tipped and shied away. Now, naught but rain and time passed within the sky’s boundaries. And indeed, it did rain, much more than it ever should have.

A man, dark and dim in his appearance, braved the cold air that night. Others, friends and family, he had left behind. Why, he thought. Why did I leave?

The skyscrapers of silver and onyx reached immeasurable heights. Antennas shot out of them like beacons of fake light. Of course, light was a blessing that was hard to find within the gloominess of this place. The candles trying to hide behind windows slowly flickered out as he, the man, walked by.

Am I a prince, he mused, or am I a pawn? Destined to live my life under other men’s orders? No. However, life cannot be trusted to nothing but defiance. How am I to serve my people, when I am foreshadowed, always shadowed, by someone higher than myself?

Briskly, he took a gloved hand covered with callused bruises and brushed his wild hair aside. Panic, silence, mystery; here in the mid-city fountains, each of these rampant things ruled. A goddess, surrounded by her angels, held an outstretched pitcher that flowed pure waters. Gaia was her name, and her face also stood within the city’s cathedral.

Darkness consumed Storm, for that was the man’s name. A chilling wind far colder and sharper than was expected that evening rolled over his exposed skin. Rain is coming, he thought. It was thick in the air, that familiar humid smell. Donning a cloak, Storm continued his wayward trek through the streets, ever lost to the rest of the world and sometimes, even to himself.

I feel really sorry right about now for not having an inkling about this Final Fantasy because even if I do read, it won't be quite the same impact...

But I adore the colour bar. :> It's truly lovely. :>

Actually, I've only played a few of their games, so I'm not as "FF-hip" as everyone else, either. This story was just something that popped into my head, like always. :3

I've got a Bleach story in my previous entry. If you read that one, I think you'll like it better. 'Tis focused completely on Grimm. :D

Loled a lot at the icon. xD

And you're probably the first person who has played the game and isn't too excited about the thing. xD

And I know about your Bleach story, have it constantly on my mind but I haven't been into reading anything at all lately for whatever reason. xD Reading withdrawal much? D: Shall correct that mistake as soon as I force myself to read. xD

I appreciate the folks that come up with these hilarious icons. As soon as I saw it, a laughed hysterically. But of course, that character is a comedic one anyway. Gotta love Edward. :D

I don't mind them that much actually. I realize that the industry made a major impact on gaming, but I never went all out for them. Guess I'm not too obsessed about something that takes 60hours+ to beat. Lol.

No problemo! I get into those withdrawels myself. I have to be very into subject, book or a story to be willing to read it for hours on end.

Edward is simply made of win and we all know it, I think. xD

It's one of the reasons I still haven't played the FF series--the fact it takes so much time to beat. And especially being as slow as I am, I will probably take some extra time as well. xD So it's a no-no, definitely. xD

Of course we all know that. I tell anyone who hasn't read FMA to read it. They're missing out, otherwise.

Well, the newest one, FF12, I beat in 52 hours. But it had a completely different system than the other FF's, so it took really long to get used to. I usually beat games in 40 hours or less, but FF's always seem to take me longer.
